Experienced ESL teacher seeking work

POSTED ON 19 August 2020

My name is Katie and I am a CELTA-qualified ESL teacher who lives in Wellington. I recently moved back to New Zealand after 16 years abroad, teaching in Asia and Australia. My last posting was in Brisbane, where I worked for 8 years at the International College of a university mostly with students who were on a pathway into university faculty. I taught both General and Academic English and some IELTS preparation.

I am seeking work here in New Zealand as a one-on-one or small group tutor for students around university age or older who would like extra English tuition to assist their studies and improve their speaking, writing, reading and grammar skills. If the student(s) sends me material they need help with, we will then go through it together in a lesson.

I am also offering English conversation classes if they’d simply like someone to chat with and work on their conversation skills.

I can offer some level of support to Japanese-speaking students as I lived in Japan and can speak Japanese to around Intermediate-Upper Intermediate level.

Lessons can be conducted in person (depending on location and social distancing laws) or via Zoom, Facebook messenger or WeChat.

Times may be tough at the moment due to world events, but language support is very much still here.

I look forward to hearing from you 🙂
