Join us for a CANTESOL Assessment Workshop
Presenter: Dr. Sara Cotterall, Adjunct Research Fellow, Victoria University of Wellington
Meaningful, personalised language assessment: Encouraging learners to measure their own progress.
This workshop focuses on what individual learners can do to evaluate their language learning progress. First, Sara will briefly explain why it is essential for learners to develop ways of measuring their improvement. Next, she will present examples of personalised assessments developed by learners in Japan and the United Arab Emirates. Then, using the learners’ examples as inspiration, she will invite participants to choose one of their current learners’ goals and design an original way of measuring progress towards achieving that goal.
