Introducing innovations in EFL teaching: Case studies from Thailand and Vietnam.

In this talk, LALS PhD candidates Paweena and Thao share insights from their case study research in Thailand and Vietnam respectively.

Paweena investigated the introduction and uptake by student teachers of TBLT in a pre-service EFL teacher education programme (TEP) in a Thai university. In this talk she reports her findings on how the student teachers’ cognition and teaching practice evolved during their final year practicum with respect to TBLT.

Thao’s Participatory Action Research (PAR) study investigated the potential for adopting an intercultural stance in a Vietnamese tertiary EFL programme. She will report the findings of the second phase of her research, which focused on how case study teachers implemented intercultural lessons and their reflections on this teaching experience.
