We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager in our Pathways to Employment programme working with former refugees in Auckland. The purpose of the role is to manage the Pathways to Employment team and delivery of the programme with a focus on one of the following two areas:
- Employment Liaison: providing intensive, individualised work with both refugee background clients and potential employers, supporting clients to gain employment
or
- Employment Assessor Advisor: carrying out English language skills assessments and individual assessments of transferable work skills and personal attributes to develop a career and employment plan with clients

- Experience managing budgets
- Working strategically with internal and external stakeholders and providing expert advice on the needs of the client group in developing economic independence

- Competence in intercultural communication and experience working with people from diverse and marginalised backgrounds
- Understanding of the refugee journey and common issues faced during the settlement process
- A commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement
- Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office Suite
with EITHER
Employment Assessor/Advisor (EAA) experience such as:
- Skill in second language teaching to adults and experience of assessing language competencies (required)
- Understanding of the English language requirements and skills required to study at a NZ tertiary institution (desirable)
- Ability to speak another language (desirable)
- The ability to support clients with a strength-based approach and implement active listening
- Proven skills in recognizing and developing work readiness
- The ability to guide career planning
- Confidence in assessing work readiness and preparing individuals for job search activities
- Ability to build client confidence and job search skills
OR
Employment Liaison (EL) experience such as:
- Awareness of New Zealand employer priorities and familiarity with employment organisations and networks in the region
- The ability to guide career planning
- Proven skills in career development and the ability to engage collaboratively with clients
- Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with developing English language
Qualifications required:
- Tertiary education in relevant field
- Membership of a professional organisation in a relevant field, such as CDANZ (desirable) or TESOLANZ (desirable for EAA)
- An English language teaching or applied linguistics qualification (Required for EAA)
