This hour-long interactive session with a Cambridge author considers a number of ways through which teachers can increase student engagement in their IELTS lessons, specifically with writing skills in mind. Teachers can identify potential connections to the subject-specific academic knowledge students bring along with them in our classes. We can adapt Task 1 questions to help build some of the academic skills that are so important for (eventual) university study. We can combine the contemporary with the traditional, through use of AI and translation. Each can contribute to a developing framework of skills and language use. *Please note that this workshop is exclusively for teachers based in Australia, New Zealand, or Japan.
