TESOLANZ Events

Kia ora

This online event is open to all and we welcome members and non-members from around the country.

This event is an opportunity for members to share what has worked for them in 2025 and what is coming up in 2026. There will be several breakout rooms and participants will have the opportunity to join 2 discussions before a final feedback session.

The Breakout Room topics are below.

We’d like to ask people to register to the Zoom meeting so we have an idea of numbers to help with planning.

To further help with planning, we would like people planning on attending to indicate which two topics they prefer to discuss on this Google Form:  https://forms.gle/gKYNPuht2Ewtt9o69

We look forward to seeing you at the event and sharing your insights.
TOPICS

Breakout room 1 – The Turning Point

Think of a specific learner whose progress (academic, social, or emotional) has stood out to you this year. What single action, interaction, or change in approach do you believe was the turning point for them?

Breakout room 2 – Keep, Stop, Start

If you had to choose one practice to keep for next year because of its high impact, one to stop because it was ineffective, and one to start based on what you’ve learned, what would they be?

Breakout Room 3 – The “Aha!” Moment

Describe a moment when you saw a learner or group of learners truly light up with understanding. What specific strategy or action immediately preceded that moment of breakthrough?

Breakout Room 4 – Beyond Academics

What is one action you took this year that you feel most strengthened a learner’s sense of belonging, confidence, or wellbeing? How did you know it made a difference?

Breakout Room 5 – Feedback & Assessment

Which method of providing feedback or assessing understanding this year resulted in the most visible improvement in student work and effort? Why do you think it was so effective?
