Keeping it together: How to bring a face to face dynamic to your online classes
This presentation looks at practical techniques and activities for bringing some of the atmosphere and enjoyment of a face to face classroom to the online environment. Born of necessity when an EIT NZCEL Level 3 class was moved online during the 2020 lockdown at Eastern Institute of Technology, we will examine innovative ways of overcoming the limits of the small screen.

Finding your niche: Online employment options for ESL teachers
While we wait optimistically for international student numbers to bounce back post Covid 19, there are numerous online employment options for New Zealand ESL teachers. A look at case studies of ESL tutors worldwide who have successfully reinvented themselves as online tutors, either with a company or by going it alone. Based on interviews with affected tutors throughout the sector, what are the best opportunities out there and what are some pitfalls to avoid?
