Draft Secondary EAL Consulatation

POSTED ON 23 July 2026

English as an Additional Language curriculum for secondary schools

The consultation period for the curriculum closed on 3 August 2026, and TESOLANZ has written to the Ministry.

Letter to Catherine Law (Curriculum Programme Lead, Ministry of Education) from TESOLANZ.

The national association of teachers of English for Speakers of Other Languages (TESOLANZ) is greatly appreciative of the development of English as an Additional Language (EAL) as a new subject in the writing of the curriculum at Phase 5. Below we outline three requests associated with the development of this curriculum.
