Kia ora TESOLANZ members, Branches are invited to nominate TESOLANZ members to the TESOLANZ Executive for the following positions:
- President (elect)
- Committee Position (Publications)
Note about the President (elect) position – This position will only become open if the AGM votes to support a proposal to change the Executive structure to allow for Presidents to be elected in an overlapping fashion. Currently, the President is elected in a non-overlapping 3-year cycle. This proposal will suggest that in the outgoing President’s 3rd year, and incoming President comes onto the Executive (1st year). Thereby creating an overlap for Presidents and enabling a transition period. Election Timetable
- 25 July, 2022 – Call for nominations open
- 16 September, 2022 – Nominations close
- 19 September, 2022 – Results announced and election process opens
- 3 October, 2022 – Final day of voting
- AGM, 2022 (date TBC) – Results announced
Position Descriptions Nominees for President:
- An understanding of all sectors of education that involve English Language Teaching (or a strong willingness to learn)
- An ability to build vision and think/act strategically
- A strong desire to serve the profession and the sector
- An understanding of Government processes (or a strong willingness to learn)
- Strong, clear and proven communication skills
- Knowledge of meeting processes; especially chairing
Nominees for Committee Position:
- An understanding of all sectors of education that involve English Language Teaching (or a strong willingness to learn)
- Strong, clear and proven communication skills
- Strong track record of organisational skills
- A strong desire to serve the profession and the sector
- An understanding of publications (newsletters, journals, websites, social media)
In order for a nomination to be accepted, it must be:
- Received by a branch committee (branch list here) and forwarded (by the branch) to the nominated elections officer ()
- Include an expression of interest (by the nominee) for the desired role, outlining the candidate’s suitability
- Include a candidate bio (to be used in the election email sent to all members)
- Include a letter of support from the nominating branch committee
